Elevated Cocktail Experience Downtown Pittsburgh, Bridges and Bourbon

I recently visited Bridges and Bourbon Pittsburgh to experience items included in their new menu. If you don’t know Bridges and Bourbon, its on Penn Ave in Pittsburgh’s cultural district, near the theaters.  It is an upscale bar and lounge. Not only is the space beautiful with moody blue walls, white marble and chic gold decor, they also serve excellent, eclectic cocktails.

If the space isn’t enough for you in Instagram, many of their cocktails offer a true experience with theatrical components crafted table side. For example, some cocktails have a smoked or dry ice element added as they present it to you. These fun additions offer an showy, entertaining element to the drink experience. If all that isn’t enough Bridges and Bourbon is also a place to catch live entertainment.

The menu preview treated us to an array of cocktails and bites of new menu items.  My favorite dish we sampled was the pillow gnocchi with lemon ricotta and oyster mushrooms.  These gnocchi were, as the name says, pillowy – but also crispy on the outside! A really great texture. Also notable was the appetizer of fermented blood orange, walnut butter and radicchio.

Amuse Bouche: fermented blood orange, walnut butter, radicchio

Palate Cleanser: Gin compressed Cucumber

Tamari braised pork belly, Brussels kimchi, smoked tofu puree

Dark chocolate tart, banana foam, rice paper tile

Dessert sampling: Almond sable, whiskey sours, dark chocolate truffle and poached pear

Bridges & Bourbon is a definitely something to try within Pittsburgh’s bar scene. The ambiance, food and drink all create a unique and elevated dining experience. The cocktails are curated to appeal to the sophisticated, educated palate. Keep in mind that with this experience the price point is a bit higher. Not everyone will welcome staying for multiple drinks at $15 -$18 per cocktail. But those who can and have a special occasion to celebrate, Bridges & Bourbon is a great place to indulge!
